What about safety of Center City casino?
Editor:
There simply can't be any safe reason for a casino to be built in Center City. The operation would require a stunning number of security personnel.
With 24-hour operation, it'll be open season for the criminal element to stalk patrons, putting senior citizens most at risk.
There is no city that has a casino at such a site. New Orleans is closer to the river and surrounded by wide streets. Even then it's not the best location. Have we researched other cities that have casinos about the impact of such a plan if they go the route now proposed for Center City?
Add to that the brutal traffic tie-ups (during and long after construction), and you can't imagine a more disturbing proposition.
Casinos by rivers and outside business districts are better equipped to handle traffic and to police areas for the safety of patrons and all other visitors.
This idea seems to be one designed by blind ambition rather than thoughtful consideration.
