A Casino-Free Future: A Party to Celebrate & Sustain Our Work
Location
We're at a turning point. SugarHouse has opened — two and a half years late and at a third of its original size. Foxwoods is stalled indefinitely, but not likely to easily give up.
We need reliable, sustained financial support at this point in our struggle.
Join us to celebrate our accomplishments and look toward a new phase of our work.
Cost: $5, or free if you become a sustainer now or at the door! We’ll have appetizers, a cash bar, music, performances and childcare!
We'll also be announcing the newest members of our Board of Directors, and honoring past members!
Becoming a sustainer of Casino-Free is a powerful way to show your commitment to a sustainable city without predatory gambling. Sustainers give a set donation, from $5-$50 each month, which enables us to build our movement from the grassroots. Please become a sustainer today!
From the beginning, our mission has been to keep casinos out of Philadelphia and shut down any that open. And despite the setback of SugarHouse's opening, we've accomplished what no one else in the country has been able to do -- reduce a casino's impact by 66% and continue to hold the line against a second. While it may not be a full victory, people struggling in other cities are looking to Philadelphia and what we've accomplished.
Building toward a casino-free future in Philadelphia requires long-term organizing and movement-building work, and we need a reliable base of consistent supporters to sustain this effort.
Our party on Oct. 28 will come one month after SugarHouse opened to citywide opposition. Here we are, still fighting, building together and launching an entirely new phase of our work. This is a special moment to reflect celebrate and jump into this next stage.
Please join us on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 6PM!
