Your Neighbors Are On Trial!

These fourteen individuals — ranging in age from 24 to 72 and including several grandparents and two members of the clergy, public school teachers, and life-long Philadelphians — lined the entrance to the SugarHouse casino site on the Delaware river and refused to move. They were promptly arrested and held for more than 12 hours.

Now, they need your help.

On Tuesday, Feb. 16, these individuals will stand before a judge and defend their First Amendment rights. Please attend the trial to demonstrate your support for these courageous individuals and for  a city free from the predatory gambling industry.

Please meet at Arch Street United Methodist Church at 9:00 AM to rally with other supporters. We'll supply stickers, buttons and Casino-Free t-shirts (signs won't be allowed in the courtroom) and then march as one to the Criminal Justice Center, arriving at 10:00.

The trial could last all day, so you should feel free to leave early or arrive late — just come straight to the Criminal Justice Center at 1301 Filbert Street; we’ll have greeters there to direct you. And check this website for updates throughout the day.
