Declaring Our Independence from Casinos: Campaign Launch

At noon on Jan. 27, 2009, the citizens of Philadelphia declared their independence from casinos. Two years ago, the conventional wisdom in Philadelphia was that casinos were a "done deal." Now, thanks to citizen activism, casinos are now being seen for what they are: a bad deal for the city and its citizens. We have shown that people working together are much more powerful than money.
