Help us paint a mural for the riverfront

We have a vision that puts people over profits, and that promotes community and creativity. A vision that is developed by us.

We are creating our own waterfront development. We may not have building permits and steel, but we have paint and canvas.

A mural for a sustainable city

We are creating a portable mural that we will display in juxtaposition to the monstrosity that will be SugarHouse Casino. And you can be a part of it.

Support Philly's community mural by adding your name.

As residents of Philadelphia, we have been struggling for four years against massive moneyed and political powers -- everyone from the governor of Pennsylvania to some of the nation's most well-financed casino operators -- who are trying to force their vision for economic development onto our city. Their vision has forced a casino into our neighborhoods. Their vision will send Philadelphians further into economic depression.

But there is an alternative vision.

This mural will depict a people's vision for the waterfront: How we would have used our waterfront had SugarHouse not been allowed to take it over, and what we will have in SugarHouse's place in the future. Be a part of Philly's community mural.

Since SugarHouse was first proposed, we have forced its owners to shrink the size of the casino by 66%, and delayed the opening by two and a half years. Now we need to build and plan for the future when we will shut SugarHouse Casino down.

By painting this portable mural in parks and community spaces, we are asking anyone and everyone to help create this vision. Come help contribute to our mural!
