Help send Casino-Free to the US Social Forum

US Social Forum

The anti-casino movement in Philadelphia has done something monumental over the past few years: we have crossed racial, religious, economic, political and generational barriers and come together to stop predatory gambling from entering our city.

This union has brought about many successes: forcing SugarHouse casino's opening back for years; putting Foxwoods' casino license on the road to revocation; and kicking Las Vegas gambling mogul Steve Wynn out of town -- just to name a few.

Our relentless support of each other and our community -- particularly in the face of a prominent and monied opposition -- is a success story that needs to be shared so we can help other cities in their struggles against predatory gambling.

That's why we need your financial support to send two members of Casino-Free to Detroit for the US Social Forum.

The US Social Forum is a national gathering of activists, organizers and concerned citizens from around the country who are coming together from June 22-26 to discuss a joint peoples' solution to the economic and ecological crises facing our country.

This is a place to share best practices, network with other organizers and expand Casino-Free's base of support.

Please help support Casino-Free by making a financial contribution today.

Casino-Free will be presenting a workshop demonstrating the negative impact casinos have on communities, how they connect to larger social and economic issues, and how a committed grassroots efforts can have real victories in protecting their communities. We're also looking forward to learning from leaders of many different movements across the country, giving us new insights and new tools to stop predatory gambling here in Philadelphia.

Even a donation of $10 will make a big difference!

And don't forget our fourth birthday happy hour tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Johnny Brenda's! We hope to see you there!
