- State moves to revoke Foxwoods: Keep up the pressure!
Posted by Casino-Free Philly on May 7, 2010
On April 29, amidst dozens of Philadelphians calling out "revoke, don't rebid," the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's enforcement arm filed a complaint against Foxwoods -- the first step in revoking Foxwoods' license.
Foxwoods has 30 days to respond to the PGCB's complaint, which will lead to further steps in the revocation process and additional hearings.
Make your voice heard at future hearings by signing our "Revoke And Don't Rebid" petition today.
We don't need one casino in our city, let alone two. Casino profits depend on cultivating addiction among those who can least afford it, which creates poverty, increases crime and tears apart families and communities. A recent report released by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia concludes, "the incidence of casino taxes on consumers (or households) is likely" to take more from low-income residents than higher income residents.
Predatory gambling has no place in our city. Help us put the final nail in the coffin for Foxwoods by signing our petition now.
Thank you so much to the 60 of you who dined earlier this week at Sauté Restaurant, which donated 25% of its proceeds to Casino-Free Philadelphia. We will be having similar events in the future, so stay tuned!
