The Ground Game Begins

Please attend our open meeting tomorrow (Wed.) at 6pm at the offices of Liberty Resources, 714 Market Street. We will provide an update on all initiatives, afford a Q&A session and activate everyone to help generate turnout for our Center City Town Hall later this month. We will equip you with flyers and other materials and delegate tasks so that, together, we can maximize turnout from various Center City neighborhoods. So, again, please join us:

Date/Time: Wednesday, February 4, 2009, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Where: Liberty Resources, 714 Market Street, 2nd Floor

Our work is having a major impact. Last week, Governor Rendell, during an interview with WHYY's Marty Moss-Coane, expressed his belief that if Philly's proposed slots parlors are not in the construction phase by the time the Pittsburgh casino opens its doors (August of this year), he expects a bill to "whip" though the legislature eliminating Philly's gambling-funded wage tax relief. (Of course, one Councilwoman has already said that the gambling-funded wage tax relief is "tiny" and only "pennies per paycheck".)

Interestingly, going unreported in the media is the following part of the interview:

Marty Moss-Coane: Is Philadelphia though going to have those two casinos?

Governor Rendell: I don't know.

So, if there is anyone left who is still suggesting this is a "done deal" please refer them to the Governor's statement.

See you tomorrow evening. Bring a friend.

Warmly,

Amy, Ivan, Jethro and the rest of the Casino-Free team
